Main drivers of plant diversity patterns of rubber plantations in the Greater Mekong Subregion

Abstract. The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) is one the global biodiversity hotspots. However, diversity has been seriously threatened due to environmental degradation and deforestation, especially by expansion of rubber plantations. Yet, little known about impact plantations on regional plant as well drivers for in this region. In study, we analyzed patterns GMS based a ground survey large number samples. We found that varied across countries varying agricultural intensities. Laos had highest diversity, followed China, Myanmar, Cambodia. Plant species richness was 1.5 times Vietnam. uncovered latitudinal gradients these artificial forests caused variables such temperature. Results redundancy analysis (RDA), multiple regression, random forest demonstrated latitude temperature were two most important composition GMS. Meanwhile, also higher dominance some exotic (such Chromolaena odorata Mimosa pudica) associated with loss within plantations; however, not all plants cause conclusion, only factors (temperature), but main affecting stands.
